How Microfibers Can Effectively Clean Your Home

Dusting in itself is an easy job, but once it sends the dust flying and landing on the same surface a few moments later, that doubles the job. It is not fun either when it triggers allergy issues.

The good thing is that microfiber dusters work wonders where typical rags or feather dusters fail to.

What makes microfiber dusters more effective?

Each strand of a microfiber is small, light, and thin, which is why the duster is soft yet non-abrasive and durable.

More importantly, when these strands rub together, an electrostatic charge is generated. The charge serves as a “magnet” that traps dust, dirt, pet dander, cobwebs, or pollen in the nooks and crannies of the fibers, rather than dispersing them into the air. It even attracts dust that are stuck in hard-to-reach places such as the crevices of your furniture.

With that, a microfiber duster is able to ensure that no dust remains whether on surfaces or in the air.

Also, since microfiber dusters are durable, they can withstand several washings. This reusability delays any need for replacement, making them a more earth-friendly choice.

Types of duster heads

Although microfiber dusters are generally multi-purpose, cleaning tool companies (such as US Duster Company) has developed different types intended for specific purposes.

Extendable Microfiber Duster

This microfiber dusting tool has an elongated shape and can be attached to a rod which can extend to 13 feet. If you add your height and arm length, the extended duster can reach up to 20 feet. It is perfect for cleaning high ceilings, chandeliers, ceiling fans, walls, curtain rods and vertical blinds.

As a handheld duster, it can remove dust off furniture, electronics such as computers, and any other delicate items.

Microfiber Cobweb Duster

The microfiber cobweb duster has a more contoured shape and soft bristles which can effectively remove cobwebs and dust from window screens. Just like the extendable duster, it can also dust the same high areas when attached to the standard extension pole.

As a handheld duster, it is best for stairwells and furniture, especially those with intricate carvings and designs.

Chenille Bendable Duster

The distinct feature of the multi-purpose chenille duster is its bendability for ceiling fans, shelves, beams, ledges, and other hard-to-reach areas. It can be effective both as a handheld duster and as an attachment to an extended pole.

These microfibers are easy to maintain. While they are all machine-washable, you may also wash them gently under the faucet after each use. Use a mild dishwashing soap, rinse, and let it air-dry on top of a clean towel. Easy does it, right?
